# Turn leads into next steps

> A practical routine for reviewing Alli leads, giving each follow-up an owner and learning from the results.

Give each lead a clear next step and a person responsible for it. Use this routine alongside your team's existing CRM or task list.

## Review what happened

Open [Leads](/leads) and choose the date range you want to review. Check **Voice** and **Web** separately when you need to focus on one source.

### Voice leads

Open the call. Read the summary and **To do** list, then listen to the relevant part if you need more context. Follow through on the caller's request, such as answering a question or returning a requested call.

### Web leads

Review the available contact details, website, campaign and status. Check your existing customer records for context, then decide on an appropriate next step under your team's contact policy. A website visit is not the same as a submitted inquiry.

If a detail is missing, use what is available. Do not guess a customer's needs from a name or website visit alone.

## Give the follow-up an owner

In the CRM or task list your team already uses, record:

* Who is handling the lead
* What the person asked for, when there is a request
* The next action and when it is due
* Whether someone on your team has already responded

Check existing records before creating another contact or reaching out twice. These are team workflow steps; the Leads list itself is a place to review the information Alli found.

## Keep the response relevant

Use the contact preferences and permissions your business has on record. Respond to an actual request when one exists, and make the next step easy to understand.

For example, when someone asked for a quote on a call:

> Hi \[name], this is \[your name] from \[business]. You asked us about \[service]. I can help with \[next step]. What is the best time to go over it?

Adapt the message to what the caller actually said. Stop follow-up when someone asks you to, and record that preference in the system your team uses.

## Review outcomes with your team

At a regular team check-in, review how many leads received follow-up, how many became conversations or appointments, and which next steps are still open. Record sales outcomes in your CRM or usual reporting system.

Use a consistent date range when comparing this with Alli's call and lead numbers. More identified leads and more closed business are different measures.

If the same question keeps coming up on calls, ask the team to [update Alli's business information](/help#change-how-alli-handles-calls). Include a call example and the answer you want customers to receive.
